NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has implemented a rule that will prohibit NFL clubs from serving alcohol at any team events. I understand the spirit (no pun intended) of the rule. I just can’t behind what it represents.

I refrained from writing this piece earlier when the information linking Atlanta QB Michael Vick to an alleged dog fighting operation in Virginia was still in its infancy. The information is still far from complete, however the evidence has continued to mount against the troubled “dirty bird.”

“… no player has ever been disciplined by the commissioner for conduct relating to criminal charges while they are pending.” So freakin’ what? No player has ever given a crap about how they conducted themselves off the field until now either. The NFLPA may have a standard procedure of defending players, but in this case, they should sit down and shut up.

Sorry, false alarm fantasy aficionados. Houshmanzadeh is fine, although he did miss the first day of voluntary workouts for personal reasons. However, fellow Bengal A.J. Nicholson is not fine. He was arrested. Again.
